This fish has blood as clear as water and no scales. The ocellated icefish lives up to 1 kilometre below the waters off Antarctica and is the only known fish species that doesn't have haemoglobin in its blood - the molecule that binds oxygen and makes blood red. One of these mysterious fish was spawned in captivity at the Tokyo Sea Life Park earlier this year, taking researchers a step closer to understanding the mysterious species.
